Responsibility

Environment and construction

The building has been constructed efficiently and thoughtfully. We use solutions that help reduce environmental impact and support sustainable operation — from energy systems to the choice of materials.

For example, our innovative ventilation system regulates CO₂ levels room by room, ensuring fresh air exactly where it’s needed at any given moment.

During construction, we have removed as few trees as possible. All the moss was carefully gathered and preserved before building began, so that it could later be returned to its place. Nest boxes have been installed for the birds, and we have created nature trails that invite you to notice and care for what surrounds you.

Respect for nature is part of Kurro.

Resources and daily operations

We strive to use resources sparingly and thoughtfully. This means conscious energy use, conserving water, and choosing materials that last over time.

Our water consumption has been carefully considered — specially selected faucets and low-flush toilets keep water use to a minimum, yet always sufficient. Our heating and cooling come from the ground, and whenever something needs to be stored, it is returned back into it. You can also be sure that it is solar energy that charges your electric car’s battery. We have a large solar park that covers a significant part of the building’s electricity needs.

This way, every resource is used exactly as much as needed — no more, no less.

Local collaboration

We work together with local producers and partners. Our ingredients, services, and knowledge come from as close by as possible.

The food on our table comes from trusted local suppliers — eggs, meat, and the gifts of the forest all come from our surroundings. Our services, too, are created in collaboration with the people here, such as guides who know this place and can share its stories authentically. We also provide work for locals at the Kurro nature spa, or set up short-term partnerships to recognise and support our people.

This is how a stronger bond with the place and the community is born.

People

Care doesn’t apply only to our guests. We value our employees too — their growth and their wellbeing. We believe that a good environment is born from people who feel cared for.

We recruit as much as possible from this area, so that jobs and income stay within Alutaguse parish and support local life. We invest in our people’s development through training, and we look after their everyday wellbeing by providing employees with accommodation and meals. We also think about mental health, supporting it with the help of a psychologist.

Because a person who is cared for knows how to care for others, too.

Quiet impact

We don’t make grand promises. We make everyday choices that create balance between nature, people, and the future.

We don’t rush. We do things calmly, and we invite our guests to slow down too — so that they can truly become one with nature. This is how we protect the nature around us and offer a genuine experience that stays with you.

Come to a place where rest does not require effort.
